Question for the AK experts

can anyone tell me the difference between the WASR-10 that is selling for $349.99 and the semi-auto WASR that is selling for $279.99? I know that there are two different rifles going for $279, and one of them has the dragunov stock, but not sure about the other one.

Guess I should put in the ad scan!

WASR-10s were originally imported during the '94-'04 AW ban with single-stack ten round mags. When the ban expired, the importer opened up the magazine well to accept double-stack 30 rounders...

There are still some ten-round single stack versions out there and I think the Dragunovs and semi-autos are those...call the retailer to be sure.

You might have a difficult time finding ten-round mags and those Dragunov stocks are awkward and mostly unuseable, IMO.

The $279 versions from the flyer look like single stack AK's. IIRC, you could get one and have it altered to accept double stack magazines. Of course, I now forget how one goes about doing that.
Maybe best to just shell out the $349. That's not a bad price considering how much these rifles have gone up in price elsewhere.

Can't help you much on the difference between the two without actually seeing them. But I'll share what little I know....

First, the price is pretty good. I paid about $329 for a WASR-10 about a year ago (okay, it did come with three 30 rd mags), so what they're asking isn't unreasonable.

The rap on the WASRs is that on some of them, the magazine wells were reamed out a little too much, and the high-cap double-stack mags kind of wobble and slop around in the mag well. However, I found that the polyester Bulgarian 30 rd mags fit real nice and snug (the problem is, I can't get that damned mag to snap into the AK it came with!)

If your expectations aren't too high as far as trim and polish, the WASR will fit the bill as a functional, and at that price, affordable, rifle.

Anyway, my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

If I remember right you have to do a little filing.

Something like that, yeah.
